Reports to: CFO or other Finance Staff
Job Type: Non-Exempt; Hourly-Part-Time
Location: Onsite at CARTA Headquarters
Expected Duration: Three to Six months part-time (no more than 29 hours per week) depending on needs of the organization and availability of the candidate.
Position Summary:
The intern will gain significant knowledge in the public transit authority industry and gain real-world business experience and skills that will prepare them for their future career. This role will provide support through experiential learning. The intern will be based in the accounting/finance department. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive visibility into the overall operations of the CARTA organization at an early stage in one’s career. Performs all duties in a safe efficient manner and in compliance with all rules, regulations and safety procedures within the workplace. The ideal candidate will value innovation and collaborative approaches to providing public services, appreciate and thrive in a dynamic and constantly evolving work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shadow experienced professionals to gain insights into industry and company operations as it relates to accounting/finance.
- Collaborate cross functionally with other departments to achieve mutual goals as needed.
- Supports interactions with employees on the phone and other forms of communication.
- Obtain understanding of the operational needs within the accounting/finance department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with degree in accounting or finance, currently in Jr year at minimum with preference given to one in their Sr. year of education.
- Experience: Prior experience or education related to Accounting or Finance. Preference given to candidate with project management experience.
- Knowledge & Skills: Experience working with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, required. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in group setting situations to customers, clients and other employees. English required, additional language capacities are an advantage. Ability to take verbal/written instruction and execute with confidence. Ability to analyze and interpret information from various sources. Ability to pay close attention to detail. Verbal and written communication skills. Sound judgment and highly developed management, organizational and interpersonal skills as well as problem solving skills.
Work Location & Compensation:
Location: On-site at CARTA headquarters in Chattanooga, TN
Salary: $17.00/hr.
