Rate of Pay: $60,000 – $70,000
Summary:
The Care-A-Van Supervisor is responsible for managing the operations of CARTA’s paratransit service, ensuring that transportation services for individuals with disabilities, seniors, and other eligible passengers are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The Care-A-Van Supervisor will assist the Care-A-Van Manager with the planning, scheduling, and execution of services, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned that are in keeping with the goals and objectives of CARTA.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the paratransit service, ensuring efficient service delivery.
- Manage the development of routes and schedules to optimize service and meet the needs of riders.
- Monitor performance metrics, including on-time performance, service capacity, and passenger feedback.
- Ensure compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements and other relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Work with the Director of Transportation, Care-A-Van Manager, and Chief Operating Officer to ensure compliance with CARTA rules, policies, and procedures to support organizational goals and objectives by promoting operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and constructive management-labor relations.
- Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, dispatchers, and administrative staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and smooth operation of services.
- Customer Service:
- Address and resolve customer concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Implement customer service policies and procedures that promote a positive experience for riders.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in transportation management, business administration, public administration, or a related field. (Equivalent experience may be considered.)
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public transportation, paratransit, or related operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong understanding of ADA regulations, paratransit operations, and scheduling software.
Skills:
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Willingness to occasionally travel for meetings or training.
